Sound familiar? Three moments where you want n8n.

If you run your own workflows, you do not want to hang support on a third-party automation service. n8n runs with you, Talkward fits in.

  1. The data should stay in-house.

Routing customer conversations through a US service just to write a row into the database? The data protection officer says no, rightly so.

  2. Your own AI agent should join in.

You already have an agent in n8n that knows stock levels, delivery times or price lists. It should be able to answer the customer without anybody copying.

  3. Zapier gets expensive at 5,000 events.

Every customer message is an event. For a store with a thousand conversations a month that quickly bursts the plan. n8n on your own server costs nothing per run.

With the Talkward package for n8n you build workflows that start in the inbox or end there, on your server and with your AI agent.

Three workflows that help right away

What merchants build first.

Every workflow starts with the Talkward trigger or ends in the Talkward node. These three run first at merchants with their own n8n.

  1. AI agent in n8n replies with stock data

The “New Customer Message” trigger starts your n8n agent. It looks up stock and delivery time in your systems and writes the reply into the conversation via the Talkward node, labelled as AI.

  2. Handover → own database and Slack

When the AI hands over to the team, n8n writes customer, order and summary into your Postgres table and posts it in the Slack channel. Reporting runs on your data.

  3. Parcel delivered → message to the customer

When your carrier reports delivery, n8n sends a short email via Talkward: “Did everything arrive well?” The reply lands in the inbox. WhatsApp works when the customer wrote within the last 24 hours.

How the integration worksTwo nodes, one key.

You install the package n8n-nodes-talkward in n8n as a community node. The trigger node subscribes to events as soon as you switch the workflow on; Talkward signs every delivery. The Talkward node replies, adds notes, sets status, assignment, tags and fields, updates contacts and searches conversations, and it can be attached as a tool to an AI agent in n8n. Both run over the public Talkward API with a key you can revoke at any time.

  • Seven triggers

New customer message, sent message, new conversation, handover to the team, closed, assignment, tag. Optionally for one brand only. Every event carries customer, channel, order and the AI summary.

  • Tool for AI agents

The Talkward node is enabled as a tool for the AI Agent in n8n. Your agent can read conversations, reply and add notes, within the limits you set.

  • Runs with you

On your own n8n server. For n8n cloud the package follows once n8n has reviewed and approved it. Talkward delivers events to any public HTTPS address and retries failed deliveries after 1, 5, 30 and 120 minutes.

  • Signed and revocable

Every delivery carries an HMAC signature, the trigger rejects everything else. The API key is for n8n only and is revoked under Extensions.

What comes from n8n sits in the conversation.

Replies, notes and tags from a workflow look like everything else in the inbox: with time, sender and the name of the workflow. Replies from an AI agent in n8n are labelled as AI replies, as the EU AI Act requires.

Set up in four steps.

n8n is included from Professional. You need an n8n reachable via HTTPS; the rest you click together.

  1. Create a key

In Talkward under Settings › Extensions › n8n, enable the extension and create an API key. It starts with tw_ and is shown only once.

  2. Install the package

In n8n under Settings › Community Nodes, install the package n8n-nodes-talkward.

  3. Add the credential

Create a new “Talkward API” credential and paste the key. n8n checks it against your workspace right away.

  4. Build the workflow and switch it on

Pick the trigger node, such as “Handover to Team”, then the action, such as Slack or your database. Switch on, done. The trigger subscribes to Talkward by itself.

Questions about the n8n integration

Question not listed? Write to us at hey@talkward.app.

What is the difference to Zapier?

Same triggers, same actions. You run n8n yourself (n8n cloud follows once n8n has approved the package), pay nothing per run and can attach the Talkward node as a tool to an AI agent in n8n. Zapier is quicker to set up and has more ready-made apps. Both come at no extra cost from Professional.

How do I install the package?

In n8n under Settings › Community Nodes, install the package n8n-nodes-talkward, then create the “Talkward API” credential with the key from Talkward. In n8n cloud this works once n8n has approved the package.

Does my n8n have to be reachable from the internet?

Yes, via HTTPS. Talkward only delivers events to public HTTPS addresses, also for the test in the trigger node. Failed deliveries are retried after 1, 5, 30 and 120 minutes.

Can an AI agent from n8n reply to customers?

Yes. The Talkward node is enabled as a tool for the AI Agent in n8n. Replies from n8n are labelled as AI replies in the conversation, as the EU AI Act requires.

What does the n8n integration cost?

Nothing extra at Talkward, included from Professional. You run n8n yourself; n8n cloud follows once n8n has approved the package.
